Onions, Etc.

A new book with more than 150 recipes for every sort of onion was doing brisk business at the NOA Convention in early December.

A new, large-format, 336-page recipe book by the wife-and-husband team of Kate Winslow and Guy Ambrosino has hit the market. “Onions Etcetera” is subtitled “the Essential Allium Cookbook” and it has a place in anyone’s kitchen. Winslow and Ambrosino were on the discussion panel at the recent National Onion Association Convention in Santa Fe and were selling their new book. The onion industry in attendance stepped up to buy the new book, and the purchase line was long.

We’ve read our copy, and are excited to try some recipes soon. The hardbound book features tons of beautiful and appetizing photos by Ambrosino. Inside, you’ll find exotic-sounding dishes from Winslow like pissaladiere, stromboli, kachumbar and caprese, down to more basic offerings like beef stock and something called fried water that tugs a bit on the heart strings.
