A new model from Top Air, the FCAT 1600 BFX onion harvester is a mechanical alternative for growers who traditionally have their onions hand clipped into plastic bins. The harvester is powered by a PTO driven pressure compensated hydraulic pump and is operated with a touchscreen controller, which allows all conveyor speeds to be controlled from the tractor cab.
The bin filler attachment picks up pre-positioned bins from the ground, loads them with topped onions and returns them to the ground. The onions are then ready for transport after minimal handling and virtually no mechanical damage.
The FCAT 1600 BFX was tested and field proven near Vidalia, Georgia, according to the company.
