Stokes Seeds has hired Bruce Ulmer as its new U.S. sales manager. Ulmer’s resume includes more than 20 years of experience in the seed industry, as well as experience in marketing and strategic planning. He earned an MBA at Indiana University and a master’s degree in agriculture economics at Purdue.
Ulmer replaces the company’s first U.S. sales manager, Joe Butwin, who is retiring after 23 years in the position.
Butwin is credited with building a “respected powerhouse of experts” capable of increasing market share in the northeastern U.S. “At times, often regarded as just a Canadian seed company, Joe put Stokes on the U.S. map as an important regional player in the vegetable seed business,” said Wayne Gale, president of Stokes Seeds.
