Onion Shipping Point Prices For May 4, 2020

The Corona coaster peaks and valleys of the last month are flattening out. The PNW hasn’t changed at all in a week, and the Lower Rio Grande Valley only has three fluctuations from April 27.

The market is higher in Vidalia and also in Imperial Valley, California, which makes the shipping list for the first time this year. Mexican onions crossing through Texas have dropped off.

California yellows in 50 lb sacks are averaging $8.13, down from a $10.62 average in 2019 at this time. Reds in 25 lb sacks from this area a year ago are down nearly half on average: $6.50 now, $12.50 then.
