Onion Shipping Point Prices for December 28, 2020

While everyone’s lives are completely topsy-turvy right now and have been since spring, at least onion prices have remained fairly stable the past few weeks.

The only onion price difference on this chart from pre- to post-Christmas is found with PNW medium yellows – down 50 cents in a week.

Since Dec. 14, however, almost all onions in the PNW dipped some, 29 cents on average. The good news is that whites from this shipping area are outpacing last year by $2.50.

Last year at this time, Michigan prices were dropping. Despite light demand right now, prices are up over 2019 by an average of $3.75.

Here’s to a happy, healthy and profitable 2021.
