McLain Farms has claimed the Vidalia onion industry’s top prize for the third time in a decade. The farm was named the 2021 Grower of the Year during the Vidalia Onion Committee’s (VOC) annual awards banquet. McLain Farms also received the award in 2014 and 2018.
Brothers Brett and Rusty McLain operate McLain Farms and make it their goal to maintain the integrity of the Vidalia onion industry by providing quality onions.
In addition to honoring McLain Farms, the VOC also inducted Bob Meyer into the Vidalia Onion Hall of Fame. Meyer was a longtime director of markets for the Georgia Department of Agriculture. The Vidalia Onion Hall of Fame honors individuals who have significantly and positively impacted the Vidalia onion industry.
