Onion Shipping Point Prices for July 11, 2022
Sweet onions from Walla Walla, Washington started shipping about July 6 with good demand. Demand remains good and the market is steady, with jumbos bringing $25 for a 40 lb. carton and mediums realizing $23. These prices are $5 over last year, when colossals were available. The larger onions have not started shipping this year, because growing conditions are a couple weeks behind in the PNW.
Southern New Mexico is on a tear. Yellows are up $4 from our last report, and have increased nearly $5 over the last month. Jumbo whites from the area are up $4 since June 13 and mediums have gone up two bucks since then.
In San Joaquin Valley, California, yellows are also on the rise over the last month. Jumbos have gone up $2.50 and mediums $2.00.
