Onion Shipping Point Prices for January 9, 2023
The new year has started on a sour note, with onion prices dropping in the Columbia Basin, Wash. and Umatilla Basin, Ore. Whites shipping from this area dropped $1.50 on average and reds 75 cents in the last week. Since December 27, whites are down $2.25 on average and colossal yellows are down a buck.
Idaho and Malheur County, Ore. was not immune to the downturn. Though steady in the last week, jumbo yellows, medium yellows and reds each dropped 50 cents in the last two.
Central Wisc. and Michigan went up slightly in the last week, providing some welcome green to our chart.
