Onion Shipping Point Prices for August 21, 2023
Three onion shipping point areas are now done for the year – Vidalia, Southern New Mexico and Walla, Walla. But the Idaho and Malheur County, Oregon shipping area has come online to pick up the slack.
Last year at this time, prices were booming, but Idaho and Oregon yellows are down $6.63 on average from 2022 and reds are down $1.50. Whites have not shown up yet.
Whites have become available from Columbia Basin, Wash. and Umatilla, Oregon. Like all prices except Peruvian imports from the East Coast, they are down in price compared to last year’s surge.
