Onion Shipping Point Prices for Dec. 11, 2023
Onion shipping point prices in the PNW and in the Treasure Valley increased sharply in the last two weeks. Whites, fueled by demand that exceeds supply, surged ahead, up an average of $11.75 in Columbia Basin, Wash. and Umatilla Basin, Ore. and $12.50 in Idaho and Malheur County, Ore. since our Nov. 27 report.
These white prices average out to an increase of 213% in two weeks and both areas are well above last year now.
Yellows are rocking, too. In two weeks, they are up, on average, $2.83 in the PNW, $3.44 in Idaho and $1.75 in New York.
Reds are also trending up, though less dramatically.
