A study of men and women in China has linked the consumption of alliums with a reduced risk of colorectal cancer, a cancer that starts in the colon or the rectum.

Conducted by Asia Pacific Journal of Clinical Oncology, the study found adults consuming high amounts of alliums had a 79% lower chance of getting the cancer compared to those who consumed low amounts.
