Light supplies of Mexican onions passing through south Texas are showing up for the first time this year. Demand is light, and the price reflects this, with jumbos at $11 per 50 lb. sack. Those same cebollas were as high as $18 last year.
Elsewhere, the PNW saw most prices drop $1 from last week. In Idaho-Malheur, 3 of the 4 yellow prices are still ahead of last year, though. Prices from a year ago are not available in the Columbia Basin because most sheds were closed due to severe winter weather. At least we don’t have that problem this year.
