Onion Shipping Point Prices for Mar. 8, 2021
Central Wisconsin and New York have run out of onions, but Lower Rio Grande Valley, Texas has started to ship onions and makes our report for the first time this year. Yellow jumbo Granos marked sweet are the only variety appearing so far from the Lone Star state, and are coming in at $18 for a 40 lb. carton. They debuted last year at $4 more.
There were some nice gains in the last week and prices are generally ahead of 2020 at this time.
Both Mexico crossings through Texas and Idaho and Malheur County, Ore. are averaging around $2 more than last year.
