Onion Shipping Point Prices for October 3, 2022
Yellow onions shipping from Columbia Basin, Wash. and Umatilla Basin, Ore. have dropped an average of $4 in the last two weeks. Colossal yellows were $24 at their peak on Sept. 6 and are now just $16.50, only 50 cents better than 2021 at this time.
Every onion size and variety from Idaho & Malheur County, Oregon dropped in the last two weeks, with the worst example being medium yellows, down $4. Despite the decline, yellows are still $2.25 over last year on average.
Central Wisconsin started shipping yellows on Sept. 26 at $11.50 per 50-pound sack. Though demand is fairly light, that price has remained stable this week, $1.75 over last year.
