Onion Shipping Point Prices for October 18, 2022
New York onion shipping points have started moving onions for the season with fairly good demand. Jumbo yellows are the exact same price as last year, $18.50 for 50 pounds, and mediums are one dollar more than 2021. We don’t expect to have any yearly data on reds from the area, because they are shipping in 25-pound sacks this year. Last year they shipped in 50-pounders.
In Idaho and Malheur County, Oregon, yellow prices have dropped by one dollar on average in the last two weeks, but are still $1.38 higher on average than last year. Whites from the region are stable, but reds slid down 50 cents and are now $4.25 on average less than this time last year.
Michigan, Wisconsin and Peruvian imports all have stable prices in the last week, but repacker-size Michigan yellows dropped $2.50 since October 3.
