BASF Names New Nunhems Variety

Nunhems Glorioso

BASF’s vegetable seed business has released its latest long-day yellow onion, Glorioso. The new variety will be available this growing season and provides tolerances to soil-borne diseases such as Fusarium and pink root. BASF describes Glorioso as an early-maturing variety of 114-118 days with excellent bolting tolerance during early sowings.

Trim necks with upright foliage will work well for sprinkler or drip irrigation. Glorioso has a uniform shape and jumbo size. It has a golden skin color with good scale retention and a firm exterior suitable for bulk storage conditions, according to BASF.

The new variety is suitable for northern latitudes such as Washington, Idaho, Oregon, North Dakota and the Northeastern U.S.
