Onion Shipping Point Prices For Feb. 20, 2024
Onion prices started going up at the beginning of November when it became apparent there was going to be a lot less product available this year. Through November, December, January and the first part of February, we’ve seen some wildly large gains in prices, especially in whites. Prices have somewhat stabilized now, but have maintained their gains from this last price explosion.
Despite the chart below showing no movement in the last week except PNW medium reds, New York had some nice gains from two weeks ago. Medium yellows jumped $5.50 and jumbo yellows increased $1.50. The New York mediums are now $5 over last year at this time.
