Downy mildew was recently confirmed in an overwintered crop in the region by Washington State University (WSU). The recent isolated storms and cool weather have created favorable conditions for downy mildew outbreaks.

Overwintered onions with dense canopies are most at risk now. If you find downy mildew, be ready to apply a foliar fungicide before excessive spread occurs.
