NOA Responds to McDonald’s E.Coli outbreak

National Onion Association (NOA) Executive Vice President Greg Yielding granted interviews with two Denver news outlets to spread the word that onions are safe to eat.

According to the CDC, McDonald’s has voluntarily stopped selling quarter pounders in some states after 49 people were sickened, 10 were hospitalized and one died after eating quarter pounders in Colorado and Nebraska, even though the cause is still under investigation.

McDonald’s has pulled ingredients for these burgers and they will not be available for sale in some states.

FDA is investigating the onions; USDA’s Food Safety Inspection Service is investigating the beef

Investigators are still determining a cause.
