The 2025 Washington State University (WSU) Columbia Basin Onion Cultivar Trial evaluated 44 cultivars and lines using three replicate plots. The onions were planted on March 27 in a drip-irrigated field managed by Weyns Farms east of Othello. Tops down (maturity) and powdery mildew (foliar symptoms) were rated in each plot on August 28 and 29. The onions were harvested on September 23 and evaluated for yield and size distribution. In February, WSU will evaluate the bulbs for quality and bulb rots.
